STEP 1: As you will see in the image, the swab will be inserted and rotated as it enters and when you reach the end of the nasal passage. A rule of thumb is to insert the swab against the base of the nasal cavity, parallel to the palate. You will know when the swab has reached the correct spot when you hit resistance. There is a line marking on the swabs were to break it in order to secure it in its transport liquid; this line is approximately how deep the swab needs to enter if at all possible.
STEP 2 : Once you have completed one side, remove the swab and allow the person to catch their breath. If their eyes are watering, you generally performed it correctly. When they are ready, repeat the swab on the other side of the nose with the same swab.
STEP 3: Once the test is complete, place the swab in its respective turn, and apply pressure against the side of the vial in order to break the swab at the line previously mentioned. Secure the cap, write individual's first name and last initial on the tube, and secure in a biohazard bag we will include with kits.
STEP 4: Fill out the form(s) LabTox will email you for every person to be tested (they will include a form for personal information and a release form). These forms can and should go into the biohazard bags along with the testing items referred to in steps 1 through 3. LabTox will send these forms in an email including which portions of the forms need to be filled out.
STEP 4: LabTox will contact you with your results once your test(s) have been processed.
